Ana María Campos Complex NGL II Plant will boost the Petrochemicals Economic Driver

Friday.- People’s Minister of Petroleum Nelson Martínez visited Ana María Campos Complex, located in Miranda municipality, Zulia state as part of the relaunching of the petrochemical industry instructed by President of the Republic Nicolás Maduro.

Martinez toured the facilities accompanied by Zulia state Governor Francisco Arias Cárdenas, President of Petroquímica Venezolana, S.A. (Pequiven) Rubén Ávila Ávila, and regional authorities.

Minister Martínez led a working group meeting with the participation of management and technical teams of the Vice Ministry of Refining and Petrochemicals, the Vice Presidency of Exploration and Production of PDVSA, and PDVSA Gas, to follow up on the work leading to the upcoming start-up of the LGN II plant, which has a capacity of 180 billion cubic feet of gas per day.

"This project is very important because it will allow us to start up the plant and have the volume of gas necessary to obtain propane, a raw material for the production of plastic”, said the minister.

He also said the project is being implemented by the own efforts of Pequiven, PDVSA, and PDVSA Gas; NGL II start-up is planned for mid-August.

The president of Pequiven said the petrochemical workers’ commitment strengthen every day President Maduro’s mandate of boosting the industry. Also, he announced that 55 workers join today Pequiven’s payroll, as outsourcing continues to be reduced –as instructed by Commander Chávez.

Joint work by PDVSA Vice Presidency of Exploration and Production, PDVSA Gas, and Pequiven will revive the NGL II plant and ensure the supply of raw materials for the Ana María Campos Complex’s plastic resin plants.

These joint efforts by Pequiven and the oil industry will boost the Petrochemicals Economic Driver of the Bolivarian Economic Agenda and diversify the Venezuelan economy.
