ONGC Videsh and PDVSA strengthen education ties

Caracas.- Seven PDVSA professionals completed their Masters of Technology in Petroleum Engineering and two in Petroleum Exploration from the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) or IIT (ISM). ONGC Videsh sponsored the Venezuelan professionals to increase their technical skills and add value to its operations in Venezuela, reads an article published by the Indian state-owned company in the April-June 2017 edition of its internal magazine ONGC Videsh Times.

ONGC Videsh Director of Operations Pasala Krishna Rao congratulated the PDVSA students for the successful completion of their dissertations and projects in an official event, accompanied by the Venezuelan ambassador to India, Augusto Montiel; the regional president of the Venezuelan Business Unit, Sukant Tiwari; the head of the Petroleum Engineering Department, Prof. V.P. Sharma and PDVSA officials visiting the country, reports the magazine.

The PDVSA professionals underwent extensive field training in Mehsana and Ahmedabad Assets of ONGC and additional training at the Institute of Reservoir Studies of ONGC at Ahmedabad, leading institute in that field of studies. Upon their return to Venezuela, they will contribute their knowledge to ONGC Videsh joint ventures in the Hugo Chávez Orinoco Oil Belt: Petrolera Indovenezolana and Petrocarabobo, the article reads.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) is the national oil and gas company of the Republic of India and the largest producer of crude oil and natural gas in that country; its subsidiary, ONGC Videsh Limited, is the largest energy multinational in India.
